Front porch in August, before the house was painted.
Next weekend’s projects will include putting the finishing touches to my front porch. Have already ordered a new doorbell and am shopping for a new mailbox and house numbers with a bit more pizzazz.
I spoke to a friend of mine in the painting industry and was told to postpone painting the porch stairs until next spring, as it is too cold now. A little refreshing of the containers plants should also help to spruce up the area.
While many homeowners slow down on outdoor projects or stop altogether during the winter, I think it is important to at least continue maintaining the main entries to one’s home. You or your visitors will walk up to these areas year round and here in the cold and wet northwest it is nice to be welcomed with a well-kept and vibrant entry.
If you are looking for ways to reuse your old wine or beer bottles, here’s an idea. Make shelves out of them! Depending on the type of wood and bottles you use, the results could be quite elegant.
Late fall weather in the Northwest usually means foggy mornings, especially for those of us who live near the water. I adore this weather when I get to spend it inside my little cottage. Makes me feel all cozy and warm!
Foggy Morning
More foggy goodness
Ahhh.. can you hear the foghorn blowing in the distance?
I discovered Alison Goldfrapp when she came out with her latest album, Seventh Tree earlier this year. She has a beautiful voice and I love every song on it, especially A&E. The video is truly whimsical and odd, just the way I like ‘em!
